We all have lots of Christmas decor, but many folks don’t have a ton of Thanksgiving decor! You can make these turkey day decorations with a few supplies and a little bit of time!
Thanksgiving DIY Supplies
If you have some of these supplies on hand, you can make beautiful, simple DIY projects with things you already have on-hand:
- Glass vases, jars, bottles, votives
- Candles
- Twine or ribbon
- Leaves
- Acorns
- Kraft paper
- Fresh herbs
- Dried wheat, real or faux
- Floral wire
- Hot glue, mod podge, spray paint, etc.
Many of these supplies can be purchased at dollar stores or box stores fairly cheaply, so don’t worry if you need to add a few supplies to your collection.
Yarn-Wrapped Wheat
You can whip up this easy centerpiece in 30 minutes or less with just a bundle of wheat, hot glue, and either embroidery thread or yarn. Wrap embroidery thread (one color per bundle) around a few stalks of wheat, beginning right under the sprout of wheat, about two inches down. Repeat with several different colors on other stalks of wheat until you’ve wrapped all of the wheat.
Mini Rosemary Wreath Placecards
You can take fresh sprigs of rosemary and tie the two ends together, making a tiny “wreath” name card. Remove a few leaves of rosemary from the top and bottom of each sprig so that you have about a half-inch of bare stem on each end. Use floral wire to tie the ends together, then use ribbon or twine to tie a bow over the wire to hide it. Use card stock or any kind of paper to cut little banner-shaped pieces of paper to write out the name of each guest.

Pumpkin DIYs
If you have leftover pumpkins (real or faux) you can make a ton of different DIY projects for Thanksgiving. There are various ways to fill pumpkins with florals and candles for holiday centerpieces, spray paint pumpkins to create gorgeous gilded centerpieces, or even pass a white craft pumpkin around the table and have guests write what they are thankful for on it!
