It’s that time of year again. You’re all set to start with a clean slate and make 2022 your best year ever — but how are you going to keep yourself motivated? Here are some tips for sticking to your New Year’s resolutions.
Pick One Thing
It is difficult for people to decide what changes they should make in their lives. They can’t determine if they should change their diet, health, job, or relationships. If you have this problem, then the best way to change is to focus on one area of your life and make changes there.
Plan Ahead
If you look at the traits of successful people, one of the most common ones is that they plan. Planning for success doesn’t mean that you need to try and get it all done today. Planning too much for the future will reduce your productivity. Instead, planning for success involves taking a step back and thinking about the big picture.
Anticipate Problems
You know that things will go wrong. You might as well anticipate those problems now and develop a strategy to handle them when they inevitably occur.
Choose a Start Date
You don’t have to shock your system with an entire overhaul at just one time. It helps to pick a date so that the challenge is more specific and bound by time. If you want to make positive changes, pick a day when you know you’ll feel refreshed, motivated, and surrounded by supportive people.
Embrace the Challenge
It’s the big day! Commit and show it. Write down your goal on a card and carry it with you. You can put it in a wallet, by your bed, or over your bathroom mirror for a little extra reminder about your commitment.
Fail Forward
Habits are tough to break. And you’re not going to break them overnight. Be patient with yourself. Your resolutions will not come overnight. When you make a mistake or two along the way, you can start over and continue on the path towards your goal.

Reward Yourself
Whenever you strive to achieve something, it can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day process and forget to celebrate your progress. Setting rewards along the way to celebrate small accomplishments will keep you motivated to keep moving forward.
