Garden

It may only be March, and the temperatures may still be in the 60s, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t the perfect time to get outside and explore the beautiful Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum! This exciting weekend activity is perfect for some sunny days with the family or even a romantic escape from reality for a few hours. There are so many different options for activities, and many different things to be seen, so what are you waiting for? Grab your calendar and pick a day to come relax!

All the Deets

Right off the bat, you need to know that this is a totally free activity. Though it’s always encouraged to give a donation, this is the perfect way to get out of the house without spending a ton of money. The garden has three different locations: the Visitor Center located at 2743 Wimpole Avenue, the Dogwood Center located at 2817 Boyds Bridge Pike, and The Center for Urban Agriculture and ECO Garden at 2649 Boyds Bridge Pike.

Fun For Anyone

With over 40 acres of garden to explore, it can seem a little overwhelming. No worries, we’ll highlight some of our favorite spaces for you so you can put together a plan for the day!

There are eight different areas to visit, all of which bring their own uniqueness to the tables. The Joe Howell house was built in 1929, and since then has grown into a 26-room residence and garden. The brick building is a beautiful staple to the gardens. The Stone Terraces, which were modeled after a terraced English Garden, serve as an event space and provide a magical, fantasy-like feeling for those who visit. The Master Gardener Beds is home to many unique species. This is a good spot to come to learn. Rowe Garden and Butterfly Meadow are great spots to walk and observe, and the Dogwood Nature Trail is a beautiful place to take in all of the beauty around you! Be sure to pop by the Martha H. Ashe Garden, because the nursery is very special to not only the gardens but also the state. In 2007 the 16-acre nursery got a makeover and was dedicated to Ashe who was the first Republican woman ever to serve in the Tennessee State Senate.

Clearly there is no shortage of gorgeous views to soak up at the Knoxville Botanical Garden! Enjoy the slightly warmer weather by spending some time outdoors and spotting some gorgeous sights!
