Take Me Out To The Smokies Ball Game

Baseball background

As America’s pastime, baseball has long been an important part of the country’s culture. Though other sports have equaled or passed baseball’s popularity, a summertime evening at the ballpark is still a favorite activity. If you live in the Knoxville, TN, area, there isn’t a hometown Major League team to cheer on in person. However, minor league baseball still has plenty of excitement to share. The Tennessee Smokies are in action and have many more games left on the schedule. Enjoy a game with your family this summer.

About the Smokies

Based in Sevier County, Tennessee, the Smokies are the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Smokies play in Smokies Stadium, an 8,000-seat venue in Kodiak. Before the 2000 season, the team was known as the Knoxville Smokies. The team began playing back in 1921. Over the years, it has participated in many minor league classifications. It has been an AA competitor since 1963. Furthermore, Tennessee has been the Cubs’ affiliate since 2007. It previously was an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Moreover, the Smokies have three league titles and eight division titles to its credit. The team was originally known as the Knoxville Pioneers.
