Tips For Fall Home Décor

Fall Wreath on Wooden Background

Fall is upon us and it’s time to pull out your cozy throw blankets and deck your home in warm colors. Check out these five tips on how to transform your fun summer décor into a welcoming autumn look.

Use a Warm or Neutral Color Scheme

Summer invites you to decorate your home and everything around you in vibrant colors, but fall ushers in a return to neutrals and warm tones. The obvious fall hue is every shade of orange you can find but brown suits the harvest season as well. Add it to your living room with a blanket, throw pillows, or wall decorations. It will make the room feel earthy and welcoming. For a warming effect, add clay, rust, terracotta or other reds to the space.

Switch Out Your Table Decorations

If you keep a centerpiece on your table throughout the year, your summer centerpiece is likely filled with lively colors and brilliant flowers.  Sticking to the nature for inspiration you can trade your flowers for pine cones and add a few candles for added warmth. If you have a table in your entryway as well you can add table decorations inspired by the harvest. You can create a display of pumpkins, squashes, and gourds.

Add Layers

In addition to the colors on the wall and the ornaments and arrangements on your tables, the fabrics can add coziness to your fall décor. Add layers by placing down rugs and runners with warm colors. You can also toss a blanket over the back of your couch.

Embrace an Eclectic Design

Another way to make a space feel cozy is to fill it with eclectic furniture and lots of accessories. This strategy makes your home feel more welcoming and gives you a way to add personality to your home. Add a few prints or different textures to your home and pair it with soft lighting.
