Spring cleaning can be whatever you make it. If you need a deep cleaning, now is the time. If you just need to reorganize a few closets, go for it. The first step to a successful cleaning is determining what needs the most work, and creating a plan based on that. No matter what area of your home needs the most work, we have a few simple tips that will help you make the most of this time and leave you feeling productive and decluttered.
Curtains
It might not even register with you, but curtains collect dust and fur like no other. Especially if you have pets, you should spend some time giving them a nice clean. For a subtle clean, use a lint roller to remove dust from the surface. If they are dirtier than that will help, take them down and run them on the fluff setting in the dryer. Throw in a damp towel to run its course.
Ceiling fans
Just like curtains, dirt, dust, and fur can accumulate quite a lot over time on your fans. It’s a pretty simple fix, though. Clean the blades with furniture polish, and then do another light buff after. If you don’t have any special dusters, a pillowcase will do the trick just fine. This is a win-win for you, because the dust falls right into the pillowcase. No mess!
Carpets
Once per year, it’s a good idea to give your carpet a good steaming. Not only will you get those pesky stains out, but you’ll also refresh fibers that need it, and leave your carpets looking brand new.
Move Things Around
It’s nice every now and then to move your furniture to the side and sweep or mop underneath. You can either find new homes for them, or put them back right after. Either way, make sure you don’t neglect spots that are permanently covered!

Vacuum Furniture
Yes… you read that correctly! Attach an upholstery cleaner and get to work! Crumbs, dust, fur, and everything else you can imagine gets stuck in the couch, and since you spend a considerable amount of time on it, it makes sense to keep it tidy.
