Spring has sprung, so it’s time to do that thing that we dream of all winter long. No, not a beach trip. Spring cleaning. Here are some helpful tips and tricks to get your home spic-and-span this spring.
Break It Down
Spring cleaning often involves big tasks as we tackle deep cleaning our living space. But it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. Make a list of tasks to do, and then break those tasks down into smaller steps. What can you tackle in 10 minutes? What can you do in five minutes? If there’s something that can be done in one minute … well, what are you waiting for? Get it done and out of the way, and you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment. Even if it’s something tiny, you’ll have crossed one item off of your to-do list. The old cliché is that “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” And while it may be cliche, it’s still true! Once you’ve gotten a start, you’ll find it’s easier to keep going.
Keep Going
Here are some small steps that can help you get going: Pick your clothes up off the floor and put it in the laundry hamper. (No judgement. We’ve all been there.) Get the kids to put their shoes where they go … you know, the eternal struggle. Wipe down the light switch plates and interior doors that attract handprints and grime. It won’t take long, and your house will already feel cleaner. Want another quick cleaning moment that will make you feel accomplished? Dust your ceiling fans. Look, it’s been a long winter, and we won’t judge the amount of dust you’re likely to find on the back side of the fan blades.
